About CM*TO FIREscape

Now in its seventh edition, CM*TO FIREscape is a four-day immersive experience packed with fun, community, and financial discussions. Everything—meals, presentations, activities, and campfires—is included in your registration fee.

This community-run, not-for-profit, not-for-prophet event, is welcoming, inclusive, and environmentally conscious. Attendees come from all over the world, and everyone is invited to participate equally in camp discussions, events, and activities.

Why Come to Camp?

  • Learn from others at different stages of the FIRE journey.

  • Hear first-hand experiences about post-FIRE life.

  • Gain money-saving hacks and investment strategies.

  • Contribute! Attendee-led presentations ensure a diverse and valuable learning experience.

What to Expect?

The  2025 event runs from Thursday, September 4th to Sunday, September 7th.

Each day will feature a mix of financial and non-financial sessions, outdoor activities, and campfire discussions. Sessions are led by community members—if you’d like to present, reach out!

While Mr. Money Mustache likely won’t be attending, this event is all about connecting with the Mustachian community.

Where is it?

CMTO takes place at a 350-acre property used as a children’s camp in the summer, and a forest school in the winter. It is a little over an hour northeast of Toronto Airport, or 4 hours southwest of the Ottawa airport. The nearest American airports are Buffalo and Watertown, which are about a 3 hour drive.

  • Lakeside activities: Canoeing, paddleboarding, and kayaking

  • Low ropes course

  • Trails, fire rings, and art spaces

Accommodations are shared camper cabins, so expect a rustic but fun experience! Campers are also welcome to bring a tent and camp out on the property.

For security reasons, the actual venue location will only be released to ticket holders.

How Do I Get a Ticket? Cost?

Tickets for CM*TO FIREscape are sold through a lottery system. Tickets are $405 CAD per person, including all meals, lodging, and activities. One child ticket (ages 5–15) is available with each paying adult for $205 CAD. Additional child tickets are sold at full price. Children 4 and under can attend for free with a parent/guardian.

On March 31, 2025, everyone on our mailing list will receive an email with the opportunity to enter the CM*TO FIREscape ticket lottery.

Add yourself to our mailing list through the link on this page's menu bar on the top right - this is the way everyone is notified of the opening of ticket sales.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable after July 1. If the event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, we will attempt to recover and distribute funds, but refunds are not guaranteed.

Payment Options?

Payment options are detailed in the registration email each camper gets when they register - typically bank transfer (Canadians) or PayPal (international).

Some payment methods may have fees.

Misc. Additional Costs?

Sleeping bag rentals are available for a small fee (but you can also avoid this by bringing your own). It can get cold in the evening though, so you will want one (and a pillow).

Pets?

Pets? Sorry, No. The venue strictly prohibits attendees from bringing their pets on the property.

There is a resident cat who may visit you in the main building.

What is Included in the Registration Fee?

•    4 days/3 nights of camp accommodations
•    All meals (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free options available)
•    Our famous Volley-Hockey-Ball tournament
•    Water activities (weather permitting)
•    Engaging financial and lifestyle discussions

What Are the Presentations?

Each year, the CM*TO FIREscape Leadership Team plans the sessions and presentations –  please reach out if you have an idea for a topic or speaker.   There will be topics of general interest to Mustachians, as well as "Core subject matter" such as financials, careers, and post-RE lifestyle.  There will be sessions geared to those new to FIRE as well as those farther along in their FIRE journey.

If you can moderate a discussion group, or are interested in sharing a topic, we encourage you to let us know. We seek to include the full diversity of voices each year.

Meals?

The camp runs as a children’s camp all summer, and is accustomed to accommodating a variety of dietary restrictions.  Camp is tree nut / peanut aware, and can accommodate medically necessary special diets.  You’ll be asked for dietary restrictions when you register, and we will do our best to accommodate you.  If you would prefer to bring your own meals and/or snacks, as long as you don’t bring food with nuts (ie a jar of peanut butter or a snickers bar), outside food is welcome.

Alcohol?

Each year we secure a liquor license for the weekend, so alcohol is permitted. Please bring your drinks in cans only, know your limit, and don’t be a jerk.

The facility can store drinks in their commercially-sized walk-in refrigerator. Smoking and drug use (including cannabis) are not permitted on the property
